Zoho Pay — Zoho’s Entry into Consumer Payments

Zoho Corporation is reportedly planning to enter India’s consumer payments market with a new app called Zoho Pay App. The payment platform will function as a standalone app and will also be integrated within Zoho’s chat application, Arattai.

This move positions Zoho to compete directly with digital payment giants such as Google Pay, PhonePe, and Paytm. Zoho Pay is expected to focus on secure UPI-based transactions, peer-to-peer transfers, and possibly merchant payment solutions, leveraging Zoho’s strong ecosystem of business software users.

About Zoho Pay

Zoho Pay will likely function as an UPI-based payment application, enabling users to:

  • Send and receive money instantly via UPI.
  • Make bill payments (electricity, mobile recharge, DTH, etc.).
  • Scan QR codes for merchant payments.
  • Manage multiple bank accounts in one app.

Zoho is expected to leverage its strong focus on privacy and data security, making Zoho Pay an attractive option for users who prefer Indian-made, privacy-friendly payment platforms.

Possible Business Impact:

  • For Consumers: A new, privacy-focused payment option from an Indian tech company.
  • For Businesses: Zoho could integrate payments across its business tools — invoices, CRM, subscriptions, etc.
  • For Competitors: Google Pay and PhonePe may face new competition in India’s UPI market.

Zoho Pay could be a game-changer in India’s digital payments market. By integrating consumer payments (Zoho Pay) with its business tools (Zoho Books, Zoho Billing, Zoho Checkout), Zoho is positioning itself as a full-stack fintech provider — serving both individual consumers and business users under one ecosystem.

If successful, Zoho could soon become a powerful competitor to Google Pay and PhonePe, especially among users who trust Zoho for its Indian origin and data privacy values.
